The 2027 annual chart
In the nine-palace sequence used here, the centre number falls by one each year, so 2027 places 9 in the centre and flies the rest in Lo Shu order. Confirm north on your own plan before reading sectors. The numbers are a calendar arrangement, not readings from a sensor or a measurement of any property.

When the 2027 chart starts
Annual stars change at Li Chun, the start of spring in the solar calendar. In 2027 that falls on 4 February at 09:46 Beijing time, two days before Lunar New Year on 6 February. Until then the 2026 chart still applies, with 5 Yellow in the south. Readers outside China should convert the instant to local time when a date sits on the boundary.
What moved from 2026
Every star shifts one palace. 5 Yellow moves from the south to the north, and 2 Black from the northwest to the west. 4 Green, traditionally linked with study, moves from the northeast to the south. 9 Purple moves from the southeast into the centre. A room that was quiet in 2026 because of 5 Yellow is not automatically quiet in 2027, so each year needs its own reading.
North 5 Yellow and west 2 Black
Traditional readings treat 5 Yellow and 2 Black as the two stars to leave undisturbed, and usually advise against starting heavy work such as demolition or digging in those sectors during the year. In 2027 the west also holds the Three Killings, so the west is the sector schools most often name for caution. These are interpretive labels, not evidence of illness or danger, and they do not justify postponing a repair that the building actually needs.
Grand Duke, Year Breaker and Three Killings
The year branch Wei places the Grand Duke (太岁) in the south-southwest, roughly 202.5° to 217.5° on a compass. The opposite branch, Chou, is the Year Breaker (岁破) in the north-northeast, roughly 22.5° to 37.5°. Years whose branch is Hai, Mao or Wei put the Three Killings (三煞) in the west, across Shen, You and Xu, about 232.5° to 307.5°. Date-selection tradition says the Grand Duke may be sat in but not faced, the Year Breaker may not be sat in, and the Three Killings may be faced but not sat in, and it avoids breaking ground in these sectors. That is a convention of date selection, not a building-safety finding.
9 Purple in the centre and Period 9
Period 9 runs from 2024 to 2043 in the convention used here, with 9 Purple as the period star. In 2027 the annual 9 also occupies the centre, which some practitioners read as a year that emphasises the centre of the home. 8 White, the star of the previous period, sits in the southeast in 2027. Calling a star prosperous is terminology within the system, not a forecast of money.
South 4 Green and the study corner
Annual 4 Green is the traditional Wen Chang (文昌) star associated with study and writing, and in 2027 it is in the south. Families who like to follow this convention sometimes place a desk in the south sector for the year. Good light, quiet and a comfortable chair matter more for a student than the sector, and moving a desk cannot promise exam results.
